How many meals has your family prepared this year? While you ponder that question, I am inviting you to attend our annual Jingle Bell Blitz. Jingle Bell Blitz is our annual food drive for the Newmarket Food Pantry! This year is our 17th year of working together to support those in our community with food insecurities. In those 17 years we have collected over 55,000 pounds of donations! The Newmarket Food Pantry serves close to 500 individuals and families each week! Did you ponder the question, “How many meals has your family prepared this past year”? The Newmarket Food Pantry provides over 1,000 meals a day through their various programs and services. The food collected in events such as Jingle Bell Blitz helps to provide those meals through the Newmarket Food Pantry. Come help us fill the Newmarket Food Pantry in a morning!

This concert is free, however a collection will be taken to support Barrie and District Christmas Cheer.

Tyndale’s Christmas in the Chapel returns for its 15th year on Saturday December 6, with exciting matinee and evening concerts. We are delighted to present the Tyndale Community Choir and the TCC Band, directed by Dr. Melissa Davis. Covenant Award-winning recording artist Saj McKenley joins as our special artist this year. This is a benefit concert with proceeds supporting Tyndale students through providing scholarships and bursaries.

Join our Street Team at Living Faith Community Presbyterian Church for their annual Christmas market which will feature many local artisans along with greenery and poinsettias, a white elephant room, and a hot lunch.

Every Year the Parkview Senior’s Choir put on a Christmas Concert to raise money for Christmas Cheer (by donation only) and to share with the community some beautiful melodies, seasonal songs old and new. It is always a fun time: with humour, sing a long time, and listening to beautiful music.

Our annual Christmas Bazaar is here again! Enjoy a delicious hot lunch as well as a hot or cold drink while browsing our amazing vendors. We offer a wide range of shopping options to meet all your gifting needs. Bid in our silent auction. Shop our “Fill a bag” used book sale- $5 per bag.

The Santa Shuffle is a 5km Fun Run and 1km Elf Walk for all ages and skill levels. Participants fundraise throughout the season to make a difference in their community. On event day, participants are encouraged to wear their funkiest festive running attire for a day of laughter and fun. After the event, each participant is rewarded a finisher medal to celebrate their accomplishment.

The Santa Shuffle is held in proud partnership with the Running Room.

Once again, the Schomberg Community Hall will be the base for the Christmas Market. Totally renovated, with new washrooms, wider stairs, and an elevator to the second floor, the refreshed Hall will is a welcome addition to A Main Street Christmas.

The Market is held from 3pm – 7:30pm.  

Admission to the craft show is included with the $5 cost of admission to A Main Street Christmas.

This December, join churches across Barrie as we celebrate the 2nd Annual Christian Heritage Month. It’s a special opportunity to publicly honor the Christian faith and its lasting influence on our community.

Last year’s collaboration among local churches made an incredible impact across the city. Through radio ads, lawn signs, and church outreach, the message of Christ’s love and hope was visible throughout Barrie.

There are five ways that you can get involved:

– Attend Proclamation and Flag Raising at City Hall on December 8 at 1pm
– Pickup a Lawn Sign from a supporting church below or at 128 St. Vincent St. on December, 1 from 2pm to 7pm (Limit of one sign per pickup). Signs will be available for pickup at Flag Raising event as well. One side says, Christmas is about Christ and the other side says Christian Heritage Month.
– Promote this event by accessing our promotional content through link above.

About the Movement:

On November 20, 2019 history was made when Brampton City Council voted unanimously in favour of declaring the month of December, each year, to be “Christian Heritage Month”. Christian Heritage Month is made possible through the partnership of individual churches within each city of Canada.

The Christian Heritage Month Initiative is a dynamic, multi-denominational movement dedicated to celebrating the vibrant cultural, social, and artistic contributions of Canada’s Christian community.

The mission is to have December declared as Christian Heritage Month, recognizing and celebrating the values of love, service, and compassion that define the Christian community.

Our Town is a play about everyday life in the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, at the turn of the 20th century. Through the stories of ordinary people, it highlights the beauty of simple moments and the fleeting nature of life. The play ultimately invites audiences to reflect on the preciousness of daily living.

Star So Bright is a presentation of word and song about a woman who is called by God to go to Bethlehem when woman did not journey on their own. With fear and uncertainty she does as she is asked and discovers not only a miracle but her purpose in life. The story is read by woman and the music is provided by Star So Bright.
