Barrie & Area Lupus Supports is taking part in the Annual Walk for Lupus Ontario May 27 at St. Vincent Park. Each year more people are diagnosed with Lupus and many other Lupus-Related conditions.  For this reason, we are asking you to join us to fundraise and to create public awareness of this debilitating chronic condition. The Barrie Food Bank is hosting their 1st Annual Pickup Roundup Food Drive May 27 at Connexus Church. Typically, summer is the Food Bank's leanest time for donations - it is a season in which the need for food continues but the shelves empty out.We want to change that.We are looking for volunteers to partner with the Barrie Food Bank to collect food all across our city. Barrie Concert Band is hosting Made in Canada at Hi-Way Church Jun 3. This is one of two fund-raising concerts per year to help perform free concerts for the community, such as retirement communities and veterans. For the 150th anniversary of Confederation, this program will feature many great Canadian composers and their music that has made Canada great. Diabetes Canada is hosting it's 32nd Annual Diabetes Ride-a-Thon at RJ Motosport Park in Midhurst Jun 4. The Canadian Cancer Society Holland River Unit  is looking for volunteer drivers to take part in a program that drives York Region cancer patients from the hospital in Newmarket, to other medical facilities, for example, in Toronto.  They serve not only Newmarket Cancer patients, but also those in Georgina, Bradford, East Gwillimbury, Aurora, Richmond Hill, and King.
