Bio of David:
Dr. David Guretzki serves as the president of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. He previously served the EFC as executive vice-president and resident theologian (2017-2023). Before that he served on the EFC Board for nine years. From 1993-2017 he worked at Briercrest Seminary, mainly as professor of theology and public life.
He has taught and researched on a broad number of topics, especially the theology of forgiveness and reconciliation, the doctrine of the Trinity, the doctrine of the church, the theology of marriage and illness, the theology of Karl Barth, human dignity, conscience, and the theology and ethics of medical assistance in dying (MAID). He has a PhD in Western Christian thought and has published three books and many other writings.
He has regularly preached and taught in various church contexts across Canada and has a heart to see the body of Christ work together for His kingdom purposes. This is one of the main reasons he has taken the position with the EFC. David has been married to Maureen since 1989. They have three adult children, two of them married. When David manages to find a few spare moments, he is involved in astrophotography, amateur radio, reading novels and various fix-it projects. We are excited about what David will share with us all and we encourage you to invite others to join us for this online discussion.
